About Palmetto Road

The Palmetto Road Phase 2 and Sullivan Road Sidewalk Project included the construction of over 10,000 square feet of sidewalk. On one end of the project, the sidewalk connects with existing sidewalks at Walnoaks Road, providing a safe walkway directly to Pleasant Ridge Elementary School. On the other end, the sidewalk connects to a previously built, Phase 1 section of sidewalk on Palmetto Road that links the project to Western Avenue and its sidewalks, providing access to local businesses.

Design, right-of-way acquisition and construction represent a $900,000 City investment.

Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon praised the project in a statement: “This wide and fully accessible new walkway serves hundreds of residents,” she said. “It strategically fills a gap in the network of sidewalks in the 3rd District. But most importantly, it makes it safer for children to walk to and from school.”
